What is a Subluxation?

A subluxation
is a complex functional and/or structural and/or pathological
articular change that compromises neural integrity and may influence
organ system function and general health.
Causes
of Subluxation
-
Physical
Stresses - birth trauma, falls,
accidents, sport injuries, incorrect
posture, sedentary lifestyle, repetitive strain,
improper use/heavy backpacks and weak
or
imbalanced muscles.
- Emotional Stresses
- relationship issues, loss of family member/friend, employment
challenges or any circumstantial stresses.
- Chemical Stresses
- smoking, drinking excessive alcohol, drugs, preservatives
in food, poor diet and the environment.
Warning
Signs of Subluxation
In adults,
signs include headaches, migraines, back pain, neck stiffness, pain
in the shoulders, arms or legs, numbness and tingling, fatigue,
tender muscles and/or joints, poor posture, uneven heal wear and
an inability to twist or turn your head or hips to either side easily
or equally. In children, some signs may include colic, poor posture,
scoliosis, ear infections, allergies, asthma, digestive difficulties,
headaches, growing pains, hip/leg pain or weakness and fatigue.
That said, subluxation does NOT always demonstrate
symptoms. Only 11% of the body's nervous system is responsible for
the perception of pain and the other 89% is responsible for function
and control that we are consciously not aware of. Therefore, subluxations
may be presently affecting your health and well-being without any
indication. The only way to definitely determine the presence of
a subluxation is through a chiropractic evaluation.
